California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) invites applications for a tenure track, assistant professor faculty position in the Management and Human Resources (MHR) Department beginning Fall 2022.The successful candidate is expected to teach human resources and/or organizational behavior courses.
The Faculty Position. The MHR Department seeks a candidate who strives for excellence in both teaching and research in a highly collegial working environment. The new faculty is expected to: 1) Teach primarily undergraduate and graduate courses in human resources, with a secondary focus on organizational behavior and principles of management, 2) Maintain a well-defined stream of quality research, 3) Advise students, and demonstrate a commitment to participate in department, college, university, and professional service, and 4) Applicants whose work incorporate a commitment to diversity in higher education are particularly encouraged to apply.
Minimum Requirements Include: 1) An earned doctorate in Human Resources, Organizational Behavior, Management, or other strongly related field from an accredited university, 2) ABD candidates may also apply, but Ph.D. must be earned by the start of the appointment, 3) Candidates must have teaching commensurate with experience and must provide evidence of working effectively with multicultural constituencies and a diverse student body, 4) Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to publishing in quality peer-reviewed journals in their area of expertise, and 5) A Student Success Statement that demonstrates your commitment and record of contributions through applicant’s teaching, scholarship, or service.
Preferred/Desired Qualifications: 1) A doctorate from a AACSB International accredited business school (or its international equivalent) is preferred, 2) Relevant professional industry experience within the last five years, and willingness to develop relationships with the business community are highly desirable, 3) Experience with grant writing is highly desirable, 4) Experience teaching human resources courses such as Human Resources Management, Human Resources Information Systems, Training and Development, HR Staffing, Recruitment and Selection, Compensation and Benefits, and Strategic Human Resources, as well as Organizational Behavior and/or Principles of Management is preferred, 5) Experience teaching other management courses, such as Leadership, Negotiation and Conflict Management, Organizational Change and Development, International Management, Ethics, and Diversity Management is highly desirable, and 6) Experience as an advisor with national management and/or human resource student organizations such as SHRM, SAM, LBSA, NSLS, etc.is also highly desirable.

A Student Success Statement that demonstrates your commitment and record of contributions through applicant’s teaching, scholarship, or service, by addressing at least two of the inclusive excellence criteria listed here: a) Integrates the values of equity and inclusivity into their teaching, scholarship and/or service contributions with diverse student populations; b )Incorporates the contributions and struggles of historic ethnic minority groups and communities into their teaching, scholarly work, and/or service contributions; c) Adopts teaching strategies that supports the learning and success of students from diverse student populations; d) Mentors and engages diverse student populations in discovery, scholarship, and creative activities; e) Engages students in problem-based projects and learning that address the needs of diverse communities; f) Possesses knowledge of challenges and barriers for underrepresented students and faculty within the discipline; g) Mentors and assists diverse student populations interested in pursuing graduate education; h) Engages in community-responsive action research or service with diverse student populations and communities; i) Has experience in or demonstrates a commitment to adopting experiential learning activities and pedagogy with diverse student populations and communities; and j) Has expertise in or demonstrated commitment to teaching, scholarship and/or service that contributes to access, diversity, and equal opportunity in higher education.
Finalists for the position will be required to: 1) Make a research presentation, 2) Make a teaching presentation, and 3) Provide a research writing sample in form of a publication or working paper
