Stetson University’s School of Business Administration, an entrepreneurially minded School with a balanced emphasis on teaching and research and dedicated to delivering an innovative and comprehensive business curriculum to our students, seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty appointment in the Department of Management and Organizations at the rank of Assistant Professor of Management (9 month appointment), in DeLand, Florida. Qualifications:

The University seeks a candidate capable of contributing to the development of a Human Resource Management program within the Master of Business Administration graduate program and contributing to teaching undergraduates within the Department of Management and Organizations. A Ph.D. or other research doctorate with an emphasis in Human Resource Management, Organizational Behavior, or Leadership studies from an AACSB accredited institution is required. Entry-level Assistant Professor candidates are expected to demonstrate potential for effective teaching in human resource management, organizational behavior, or leadership courses, preferably with teaching experience, and should demonstrate scholarly activity that leads to publication in peer-reviewed, academic journals in one of those fields. Experienced Assistant Professor candidates are expected to have demonstrated excellent teaching performance in human resource management, organizational behavior, or leadership courses, and have an active research stream with a record of publishing in peer-reviewed, academic journals in one of those fields. All candidates must also be able to contribute to teaching general business management courses, and the ability to contribute to teaching introductory international business management courses is preferred. Evidence of professional activity sufficient to be qualified as “Scholarly Academic,” as defined by AACSB and Stetson’s faculty qualification standards, is required.

Responsibilities:

The annual teaching load includes five regular courses and one approved contribution (equivalent to one course) to Hatter Ready, the University’s experiential, contemporary, and integrative learning initiative. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate courses and will depend on the candidate’s disciplinary expertise, and may include offerings for the University’s requirements in General Education. Interested faculty may also offer theme-based courses that meet the University’s requirements in General Education (e.g., First-Year or Junior Seminars) or international courses through Stetson’s WORLD program and the Rinker Center for International Learning.

The Journal of Applied Psychology is hosting a workshop designed to support junior researchers from a variety of backgrounds who have relatively less experience and support with developing a research idea and corresponding methodology. This workshop has three goals. It seeks to (a) provide feedback on a research proposal developed by junior scholars; (b) provide opportunities for junior scholars to develop adequate and high-quality methodology in order to test well-crafted research ideas; and (c) share insights and knowledge with regards to research proposals of others. The workshop will be facilitated by current and former Associate Editors and winners of JAP’s “Best Editorial Board Reviewer” award. Each participant will be assigned to a small group led by one team leader. Please note that it is unlikely that the assigned team leader or other participants in the session will be an expert in your specific research. In this small group, participants will receive written feedback on their research proposal from the team leader and verbal feedback from other session participants.

The sessions will be held virtually between May 30-August 30, 2024. Exact day and timing will be determined based on participant time zones and availability. This interactive workshop will last 2 hours.

Please note that in order to keep the size of the discussion group small, space for this workshop is limited. The application process is competitive, and applications will be evaluated based on the participant’s experiences with publishing research in top-tier outlets, participant’s current mentoring team, and the fit of topic areas between the manuscripts and the expertise of the participating team leaders. We will be giving priority placement to qualified applicants from non-WEIRD (Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich, Democratic) countries. The topic of your research proposal needs to be related to cognitive, motivational, affective, and behavioral psychological phenomena in work and organizational settings, broadly defined. Finally, participating in the workshop does not guarantee the eventual acceptance of the manuscript by the Journal of Applied Psychology.

Essential Duties	The Department of Management and Marketing invites applications for a full time, tenure-track position. The successful candidate will teach an array of Management courses including human resources, general management, and strategic management. Two Tenure-track Faculty Positions in OB/HR at Florida State University

The Department of Management at Florida State University will fill two tenure-track faculty positions in Organizational Behavior (OB) and Human Resources (HR) at the Assistant Professor level. Both positions will start in August 2022. An earned doctorate is required by the Summer of 2022.

Responsibilities

The position carries a 2/2 teaching load, with a 1-course release for the first three years. Courses in the Management Department’s curriculum include undergraduate OB (e.g., OB, Leadership, or Cross-cultural management) and HR (e.g., Staffing, Compensation, or Training and Development) topics, as well as graduate offerings (MBA and Ph.D.)

Candidates must demonstrate an interest in and a capacity for conducting high-quality scholarly research. Engagement with our highly-regarded Ph.D. program is expected. In recent years, our graduates placed at reputable peer institutions, such as Auburn University, the University of Arkansas, Baylor University, Iowa State University, Michigan State University, Northeastern University, Mississippi State University, Kennesaw State University, the University of Tennessee, the University of North Texas, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and the University of Utah.

Minimal service activity is expected during the initial years of appointment.

Qualifications

A doctorate from an accredited institution in an area of specialization consistent with OB and HR is required. Evidence of research publications and work in progress is expected. Experience teaching course(s) in online and traditional formats is preferred.

Department Information

The Department of Management has eleven full-time tenure-track faculty members in two general categories: Organizational Behavior/Human Resource Management (Shanna Daniels, Jack Fiorito, Wayne Hochwarter, Sam Kang, Samantha Paustian-Underdahl, and Gang Wang) and Strategic Management (Michael Holmes, David King, Bruce Lamont, David Maslach, andHoracio Rousseau).

Bruce Lamont is the current Department Chair, while Darren Brooks serves as the Associate Department Chair.

In recent years, the faculty has published in top-tier micro-and macro-level journals, including Administrative Science Quarterly, Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Annals, Journal of Applied Psychology, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of International Business Studies, Personnel Psychology, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, and Organization Science.

Hello MFCA Family,

Catrina, a member of MDSA and doctoral candidate at Rutgers Business School, is collecting data for her dissertation. She is studying the development, transformation, and ending, if relevant, of advising relationships in academe.

Participation in this study involves completing an online survey. The survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete and will ask about your relationship with your former dissertation advisor such as performance, access to developmental opportunities, feedback, and current relationship status. Your former advisor/dissertation chair will also be encouraged to participate in the survey. Your response will not be shared with your former dissertation advisor, nor will your former advisor know whether you chose to participate in the study or not.

Eligibility requires the following:
1) Completion of management (or management related) doctoral degree from a U.S. institution within the last 5 to 6 years, and
