Solicitation of Proposal for JAP Virtual Research Proposal Development Workshop
DEADLINE TO APPLY: March 4, 2024; Direct Link: https://www.thejournaleditorscorner.com/proposal-development-workshop.html

The Journal of Applied Psychology is hosting a workshop designed to support junior researchers from a variety of backgrounds who have relatively less experience and support with developing a research idea and corresponding methodology. This workshop has three goals. It seeks to (a) provide feedback on a research proposal developed by junior scholars; (b) provide opportunities for junior scholars to develop adequate and high-quality methodology in order to test well-crafted research ideas; and (c) share insights and knowledge with regards to research proposals of others. The workshop will be facilitated by current and former Associate Editors and winners of JAP’s “Best Editorial Board Reviewer” award. Each participant will be assigned to a small group led by one team leader. Please note that it is unlikely that the assigned team leader or other participants in the session will be an expert in your specific research. In this small group, participants will receive written feedback on their research proposal from the team leader and verbal feedback from other session participants.

The sessions will be held virtually between May 30-August 30, 2024. Exact day and timing will be determined based on participant time zones and availability. This interactive workshop will last 2 hours.

Please note that in order to keep the size of the discussion group small, space for this workshop is limited. The application process is competitive, and applications will be evaluated based on the participant’s experiences with publishing research in top-tier outlets, participant’s current mentoring team, and the fit of topic areas between the manuscripts and the expertise of the participating team leaders. We will be giving priority placement to qualified applicants from non-WEIRD (Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich, Democratic) countries. The topic of your research proposal needs to be related to cognitive, motivational, affective, and behavioral psychological phenomena in work and organizational settings, broadly defined. Finally, participating in the workshop does not guarantee the eventual acceptance of the manuscript by the Journal of Applied Psychology.

To apply for participation in the JAP Research Proposal Development Workshop, please complete this Qualtrics survey ([https://ugeorgia.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0DIjr6hLjsPUKTs]) to provide more information about yourself and your research proposal (including a 2-page summary of the research idea). If you are selected to participate you must submit an 8-page proposal (maximum, excluding references, figures/tables and supplementary materials) and mock study preregistration form (using the form found here: https://osf.io/byu28) by April 15, 2024.

Application deadline for the workshop is February 28, 2024. You will be notified about the workshop acceptance by March 15, 2024.
If you have any questions, please contact JAP Editor Lillian Eby (leby@uga.edu).

In 2020, as the U.S. reeled from long-simmering social and racial unrest, many of America's large corporations signaled their commitment to invest in solutions to support Black-owned businesses and minority communities.

We look to interview Black CEOs to gain their perspectives on the social justice movement's impact on their corporate customer's actions towards their firms.  Have these commitments impacted your business or the way you do business?  We also want to examine the sentiments of CEOs of Black-owned firms about opportunities driven by racial considerations.

Participation will take approximately 60-90 minutes.  If you are interested in participating in this study, please contact Holly Slay Ferraro, Ph.D. of the Villanova University Business School (holly.ferraro@villanova.edu), to schedule an interview.

The Department of Management in the Monfort College of Business at the University of Northern Colorado invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position in operations management and data analytics beginning August 2023. We seek a candidate with a Ph.D. in operations management, data analytics, or a closely related field (Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Management Science, etc.) from an accredited higher education institution by the start of the appointment. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in operations management and related data analytics courses; conducting research; and providing service to the university, college, department, and community.

Founded in 1889, as the State Normal School of Colorado and tucked between the Rocky Mountains and Colorado’s stunning high plains, the University of Northern Colorado has grown from its roots as a teacher’s college into an institution with international draw and status.UNC is a public doctoral research university that strives to cultivate the unique potential of each of its approximately 9,000 students and is positioned to advance knowledge through discovery because of its just-right size, expert faculty and tradition of research and hands-on learning. By immersing students in innovative teaching and research methods in the classroom and in the field, UNC provides its students with an exceptional educational experience. UNC’s talented and dedicated faculty are housed in its five colleges: Education and Behavioral Sciences; Humanities and Social Sciences; Kenneth W. Monfort College of Business; Natural and Health Sciences; and Performing and Visual Arts.

There is no typical UNC student. UNC prides itself on being a university where students do not have to conform in order to belong. Whatever their unique talents may be, UNC helps students reach their fullest potential. The university prepares students not only to have successful careers, but also to lead fulfilling lives, engage in intelligent public discourse, participate in government, and thrive in a changing, global world. UNC has a long history of serving students who are often underrepresented at research universities. More than 40% of UNC undergraduates are the first in their family to go to college, one third are underrepresented minorities, and more than one-quarter are eligible for federal need-based financial aid.
