Term Faculty Positions in Management

Department of Management, Kogod School of Business

American University, Washington DC

The Management Department at the Kogod School of Business, American University, invites applications and nominations for full-time term faculty appointments in Management, in the areas of general management, business entertainment, and entrepreneurship (with potential for administrative appointment as assistant director of the AU Center for Innovation) to begin Fall semester 2022. The positions are conditional on final authorization. We welcome applications from scholarly and other professional backgrounds in line with the position needs. Preferred candidates will have (1) earned graduate or terminal degree from a nationally-accredited institution in Business Management, Law, or other relevant fields, with an emphasis in organizational behavior, human resource management, or strategy; (2) university-level teaching experience in management, business entertainment, entrepreneurship, or related areas; (3) curricular and program development experience; and 4) collegiality, good citizenship, and commitment to serve the school. We are especially interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching, and/or service will contribute to the diversity and excellence of Kogod’s academic reputation.

Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the positions are filled. An application must include a cover letter, a current and complete curriculum vitae, copies of teaching evaluations, and contact information for three references (note: references may be contacted if candidates move past the review stage). Essential qualifications include:

·       Ph.D., MBA, JD, or related graduate or terminal degree in disciplines related to management, organizational behavior, strategy, or a closely related field

  • Strong commitment to high-quality pedagogy, including currency in teaching content, methods, and instructional technology
  • Potential for effective teaching at all levels
  • Demonstrated collegiality, good citizenship, and professional background

Responsibilities include:

  • High quality undergraduate and graduate teaching
  • Currency in the scholarly basis of teaching areas
  • Participation in department, school, university, and professional activities
